With the estimated 665 acres of invasive floating plants within the lake, the above plan uses the interagency flight zones for contractors to periodically reduce floating plant acreage to the lowest feasible levels. This plan will result in lower herbicide usage, reduced volume of managed plants, and removal of floating plant navigational blockages that cause boat ramp and boat lock closures.
Contractors will begin the work outlined in this plan, starting in Zones 4 (western marsh) and 9 (Eagle Bay). Once completed, contractors from zone 4 will move to zone 5, and contractors from zone 9 will move to zone 7. As contractors complete their work in a zone, a new zone will be set up in the plan. This method provides the most up-to-date information on the current location and upcoming zones for management.
