Leadership Hendry and Glades helps develop regional leaders

Posted

As the challenges and opportunities of Hendry and Glades counties become more complex, there is an increasing need to develop regional leaders. Leadership Hendry and Glades Counties, Inc (LHG) is a comprehensive leadership program designed to better prepare a diverse group of community, government, business and nonprofit leaders to work collaboratively in addressing regional issues. LHG is designed to provide a unique learning experience for emerging and existing leaders through an intensive nine-month program that trains, empowers and supports leaders so they can promote community change in the region. Meeting once a month at various locations/businesses throughout Hendry and Glades counties, the program gives participants the opportunity to come face-to-face with current issues facing our communities, but still staying true to its roots by metamorphosizing annually to keep up with current issues, we grow as our communities grow.

Leadership Hendry and Glades Counties Alumni Association
The Alumni Association became active under the guidance of a few dedicated people who saw a need to continue the involvement of Leadership Hendry and Glades Counties with their classmates. Our graduates live and work all across the South Florida region. Alumni find a myriad of ways to stay involved after they graduate. The Alumni promote the program by providing opportunities to continue the commitment to Hendry and Glades counties through annual projects that give back to our communities and broaden the LHG family. Most join committees based on their area of interest. Whether coordinating a large event or donating time to speak to Youth Leadership class members, our Alumni volunteer their time and talent every day.

On Wednesday, August 14, 2019, the upcoming class of 2020 met for an orientation of the upcoming year and were joined by the LHG Alumni Association for appetizers, dinner and networking. The new participants had an opportunity to meet Alumni and get their perspective on the Program, as well as hearing stories from years past. Stay tuned for more publications on this year’s Leadership journey as they arise from upcoming sessions…

LHG is a non-profit 501-C(3) program and is facilitated by the Hendry County Economic Development Council.
