Deputy Zorone Everett was born in Pahokee, Florida in 1976. After attending the area elementary and middle school, Deputy Everett moved to West Palm Beach, Florida with his family. While there, he finished his high school career at Wellington High School and graduated with his diploma in 1995.

Being young and seeing the world as his oyster, Deputy Everett jumped on the opportunity to relocated to Jacksonville, Florida shorty after his graduation. Not quite sure what path he wanted to follow, he found a good job working for the Bacardi Rum Plant. He lived in this area for seven years until the winds of change came calling.

In 2004, Everett moved back to West Palm Beach. Looking for a career that would fulfill his desire to help others, he decided that he would like to become a Correctional Officer. He then attained his Corrections Officer Certification through the academy at Palm Beach Community College.

After his training and certification, he was quickly hired on as a Correctional Officer (CO) at Glades Correctional Institute. He worked here for approximately three years.When a position for a CO became available at the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office, he applied and procured the job within the department’s jail.

As a Corrections Officer, Deputy Everett wears many hats. Most importantly, he is committed to maintaining the ‘three C’s’ – he is responsible for the Care, Custody, and Control of the inmates in the Hendry County Jail.He makes sure inmates have their basic essentials and their needs are met. He transports inmates, supervises court appearances, conducts headcounts, and provides basic medical attention when needed. He must also commit time each day to completing paperwork, emails and phone calls.

When asked why he chose this line of profession, Deputy Everett stated, “I enjoy helping people, talking to people and interacting with people. If I can help even one person and spark their light bulb, then I’ve done my job.” He tries to be a role model around the inmates. He encourages them to strive for positive changes in their lives. His motto is ‘If I did it, you can do it’.

Deputy Everett has one son who is a senior in high school who plans to enroll in the military this year. His mom is a retired school teacher and his dad is a retired Probation Officer. He likes spending time with his family when he can. He also enjoys spending time with his best friend, George Taylor, who he met in 2004 at the prison. He admits that his job is demanding, and often leads him strapped for time.

However, when time allows, Deputy Everett is a huge video gamer. He finds this activity to be very relaxing, and affords him the opportunity to escape from the stresses of reality for a short time. Although devoted to all sports, he is an avid college football fan. Deputy Everett supports his favorite team, The Florida State Seminoles, through thick and thin. He is also a car enthusiast who hopes to one day own a Corvette. Whenever possible, he finds the tranquility of just relaxing at home one of his favorite things to do as well.

No matter which hat Deputy Everett is wearing, it is apparent that he truly loves his job. Whether he is modeling positive behaviors for inmates or having to be the voice of authority, he is trying to make a difference in the lives of many people one day at a time.
