Plenty of hands were on deck to participate in the therapy horse visit at LaBelle Middle School. All of the students took turns selecting just the right color to place their handprint on Misty, the miniature horse. After painting, Jules, the Arabian, took students for a ride around the campus courtyard. There was no denying the smiles on their faces! Animal-assisted therapy is when animals are used to help achieve goals. These goals can be physical, mental, emotional and/or social. Bonnie Feickert, the ESE teacher at LMS, frequently utilizes therapy animals in her curriculum. Thank you, Lark Campisano, of Endless Trails Stables, for sharing your horses with these students.
