LABELLE — On Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021, Labelle Moose Lodge, #2398, LaBelle Moose Riders hosted Poker Run with proceeds benefiting the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit and the LaBelle Moose Riders.
Brad Galloway, president of the Moose Riders, organized the event that included a K9 demonstration and family hay ride.
K9 Halo along with his handler, Sgt. Nester Echevarria and K9 Max, along with his handler, Lt. Ben Rowe conducted the demonstration, showed off some of their apprehension skills all while displaying to the public the strength, agility and training these dogs undergo. K9 Handlers talked to those that attended providing them with information that included the specialized background of the dogs.
Moose Lodge Administrator, Jeff Conkey presented a donation in the amount of $500 dollars to the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit. These funds will be used for the purchase of both duty and training equipment for the dogs.
Sheriff Steve Whidden said, “I am very appreciative of this donation to our K9 Unit and to those that attended the demonstration.".
