Preschools benefit from grants

FORT MYERS — The Early Learning Coalition of Southwest Florida is pleased to announce the release of the Phase VI Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations (CRRSA) Grants. The grants offer funding to support private childcare providers and contracted school district providers that were open on Sept. 1, 2021, and are providing on-site childcare services on the date of their application. The funds will assist them in remaining open during COVID-19. Private providers are also eligible to receive an additional allocation for workforce incentives. Providers must use this allocation for workforce initiatives such as recruitment expenses, retention bonuses or to improve teacher skills.

“The impact of the pandemic on early learning operations continues to disrupt a fragile ecosystem of care and learning for our families,” said Susan Block, ELC Chief Executive Officer.” Preschools are critical to the community to support working families and to prepare children for formal learning. In some instances, these grants are the difference between programs remaining open or not.”
