LABELLE -- Once again, the gracious ladies of the Whispering Divas Red Hatters of Whisper Creek RV Park have come through with their annual donation to two needy and much deserved local organizations. The Disabled and Homeless Veterans Fund, in affiliation with the VFW Auxiliary Post 10100, and Operation Backpack, a unification of several churches, women’s clubs and schools of LaBelle, which are benefiting from the Red Hat group’s dedication to serve.
A fun-filled luncheon and fashion show are usually the source of this annual fund raiser but because of the COVID 19 pandemic restrictions, the event regretfully had to be cancelled this year. The determination of the Red Hatters, headed by Lois Houser, “Queen Mum”, and aided by volunteers, emails, Facebook, phone calls and door knocking, as well as the extreme generosity and cooperation of the residents of Whisper Creek, has concluded as a very successful fund-raising project.
A total of $1,382 was presented to each organization during an informal lunch held on Tuesday, March 2 at Charlie’s Bridge Street Coffee and Tea Company. Charlie has been an active supporter of the Whispering Divas’ fund-raising activities.
“Operation Backpack” helps provide food for the hungry school children of LaBelle while the VFW Auxiliary’s “Disabled and Homeless Veterans Fund” gives aid to our local veterans in need.
