Robert, 54, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023, during his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family, bravely fighting, just steps away from the white sands of Panama City Beach, until the minute the Lord called him home.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 10, 2023 at 3:00 P.M. at Mathews Funeral Home.
Robert was born on September 15, 1968, and raised in Hialeah. He was a resident in Albany, GA before settling in Panama City Beach with his family due to his career.
Robert was a down to Earth people-person, surrounded by so much unconditional love from so many wholehearted people. He was very loyal, generous, loving, and caring, and would give the shirt directly off his back to anyone in need, even a stranger he had just met. He knew how to enjoy life in just the right way, as a man of God who loves fishing, hunting, riding his Harley, and bonding with his beloved dog “Blue.” But above all, he loved spending quality time with his family, friends, and those held dearest to him.
Survived by the love of his life, Tonya Simon Hormilla his “Jenny” for 16 beautiful years; his daughters, Amy Bownan (Jason), Daylen Gregors (Trey), and Jordan Chaplik (Zac); his son, Gage Hormilla; his two sisters, Cari Hormilla (Nicole) and Kimberly Torrealba (Reggie); four grandchildren: Josslyn, Landon, Addie, and Stella; his aunt, Connie; and uncles, Jack and Jim.
He was preceded in death by his both his parents George and Carrie Mills, and his beloved nephew Jordan Mills.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Mathews Funeral Home. The family will also be at the Manor House at Merry Acres Inn Wednesday, March 8, 2023 beginning at 5:00 P.M., and after the funeral Friday for any friends and family that wish to visit.
There will be an additional memorial service at a later date in Okeechobee, Florida. To sign our online registry, or to send condolences to the family, you may visit Mathews’ website at www.mathewsfuneralhome.com.
