Selma Daniels Education Scholarship reaches $20,000 in donations

FSW is seeking donations to meet $50,000 goal

FORT MYERS — Established in 2020, the Selma Daniels Education Scholarship was created to memorialize the life and contributions of Selma Daniels, the creator of the only school for African Americans in LaBelle. To accomplish this, the FSW Foundation embarked on a 5-year plan to raise at least $50,000 to provide financial assistance for residents of Hendry and Glades Counties who want to pursue their Bachelors of Elementary Education at Florida SouthWestern State College. We are happy to announce that as of July 13, 2022, the scholarship received $20,000 in total donations!

While this is a remarkable accomplishment, to remain on track we still need community support. We are interested in any kind of donation. Large, one-time donations are fantastic, but so  are smaller donations. Several community members have opted to donate $25 a month for the next five years.

To donate, please visit foundation.fsw.edu and click on the “Give Now” button.

If you are interested in learning more about the scholarship, the fundraiser, or Selma Daniels, please reach out to Brandon Jett at bjett@fsw.edu or Kyle Hartman at kyle.hartman@fsw.edu.
