CLEWISTON – Come “raise some cane” in the World’s Sweetest Town at the 2022 Clewiston Sugar Festival at the Civic Park in Clewiston.

This community festival celebrates the sugar cane harvest.  Over the years the festival has grown into a multi-day event. Thanks to the sponsors, activities such as the kids’ ride and the concerts are free!

On Thursday, March 17, the 2022 Homerun Derby will be held. This slow pitch softball tournament is open to all ages. The game for ages 12 and under starts at 6 p.m. Cost is $20 per player. There are four age divisions. Bring your own pitcher or one will be provided. The winner of each division will receive a grand prize and trophy. Sign up at clewistonsugarfestival.com/sports-tournaments or in person at the Clewiston Chamber of Commerce, 109 Central Avenue, or on the day of the tournament at the park.

On Friday, March 18 the Kickoff party will include the British Invasion Experience be the main stage at 7 p.m. The British Invasion Experience is a tribute to the entire genre of 60s and 70s music. The show kicks off with a set dedicated to the Beatles, then progresses to music from The Who, The Kinks, The Hollies, Led Zeppelin and more!

The Sugar Festival 5K Run/Walk will be Saturday, March 19, starting at 208 Deane Duff Street. Register at Sugarfestival.com/5-K. Check in and “day of” registration starts a 7 a.m. The race starts at 8 a.m.

Throughout the day on Saturday, March 19, local performers such as dancers, cloggers, gospel singers, Taekwondo and debate clubs will be featured on the main stage.

Big Lake Car Cruisers will present the 2022 Rod Run at the festival.

Also on March 19:

  • At the Youth Center, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Food Network Kids Baking Champion Keaton Ashton will put his skills to work live to create a one-of-a-kind cake display that pays homage to the 2022 Sugar Festival. He will be assisted by Carissa DaSilva, executive pastry chef at Mizner Country Club.
  • The free Kids Play Park at the Sweet Town Playground will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Parents must sign a waiver for their child to enter. The park is sponsored by the H.E. Hill Foundation.
  • At Old Town, see a village of antique tractors that only come out once a year. Between performances on the main stage, tractor buffs will crank up the tractors.
  • From 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at Library Park, the Seminole Tribe of Florida will present an alligator show.
  • The official Sugar Festival Opening Ceremonies will be held at noon on the main stage.
  • Justin Mason & Blue Night will perform at 12:15 p.m. on the main stage. Justin & Blue Night is one of Florida’s busiest bands, playing most of the larger bluegrass festivals around the Southeast. The band plays traditional bluegrass, classic country and original tunes, spanning music from the 1940s to today.
  • Alligator Alley will perform at 1:15 p.m. on the main stage. Alligator Alley plays driving bluegrass tunes with high energy and family harmonies. Each band member is also a songwriter for the band, bringing their own material and flair to the music.
  • Sawyer Brown will take the main stage at 2:30 p.m. Sawyer Brown is an American country music band, founded in 1981. This five musician band has more than 50 of their singles on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, including “Thank God for You,” “Some Girls Do,” and more!
  • Niko Moon will perform on the main stage at 4 p.m. Moon is an American pop singer who has written songs for Dierks Bentley, Zac Brown Band, Rascal Flatts and Morgan Wallen. Moon’s first studio album includes the hits, “Good Time” and “Paradise to Me.”
  • Grammy-nominated Cole Swindell will be on the main stage at 5:30 p.m. Swindell’s hits include “Single Saturday Night”, “You Should Be Here”, “Break Up in the End,” and more.
