Posted

LABELLE - A local favorite restaurant, known for its efforts to support the community, recently put out a call for donations for Hendry County’s ACT (Abuse Counseling and Treatment) shelter.

ACT is a non-profit organization that provides free and confidential services for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, their children, and families in Lee, Hendry and Glades counties. ACT provides support 24-hour per day, 7-days per week. The LaBelle shelter provides a safe place for survivors to take refuge, be heard and begin healing.

The Quart House is accepting the donations, donations must not be taken directly to the shelter in order to allow for privacy, safety, and confidentiality for the residents. Items that are in demand at the LaBelle shelter include pajamas in all sizes for children and adults, hair brushes, hair ties, scrunchies, or hair clips, feminine hygiene products, deodorant, body wash, disposable diapers from infant to size six (size one and six are most needed at this time), flip flops for both adults and children, and blankets.

“If you bring in a donation to the Quart House Restaurant, you will get a free piece of Red Velvet roll!!” the announcement stated.

The Quart House is located at 100 S. Main in LaBelle and is open Monday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Anyone experiencing domestic violence or abuse can remain anonymous and contact ACT’s 24-hour crisis hotline and speak with a counselor to go over their options.
