Two boat Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge ramps closed

THE EVERGLADES – South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) continues to take action to help alleviate high water conditions in the Central Everglades. On Nov. 25, SFWMD installed temporary pumps in southern Palm Beach County to help reduce high water levels in the Central Everglades. The temporary pumps are located just west of the S-39 structure on the northern border of Water Conservation Area (WCA) 2A in Broward County and the southern border of the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge (also known as WCA 1).

Pump installation requires the temporary closure of two of the four boat ramps located at the Loxahatchee Road Boat Ramp on the southern border of the Refuge effective immediately.

Anglers and boaters can still access the Refuge from several access points through public boat ramps. Visit FWC’s Boat Ramp Finder (https://atoll.floridamarine.org/dle_gis/javascript/boat_ramp_status/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery) to find one near you.

Go to SFWMD.gov/Navigation to get the latest information on navigation through SFWMD structures and waterways.
