You may remember that we published a story about the LaBelle VFW Post and Auxiliary adopting a group of seven men and three women as their “Blue Star Family”, these F/A-18E Super Hornets are currently stationed aboard the Dwight D. Eisenhower Aircraft Carrier. The VFW Auxiliary’s goal is to fill and ship a monthly box, filled with goodies donated by our community. They recently shipped their first box, and have started on the next.

They are asking for donations of toiletries such as: shampoo, conditioner, body soap, deodorant, wet wipes, toothpaste, toothbrushes, cotton swabs, and feminine hygiene products. As well as non-perishable snacks like beef jerky, slim jims, protein bars, cookies, chips, crackers, etc. Also books, magazines, and letters of support are strongly encouraged. These are just a few suggestions, other items are welcome as well.

If you are interested in donating some items to fill this months care package, simply bring them to the VFW Post #10100 located at 20 Veterans Way (next to the LaBelle Rodeo Grounds) in LaBelle. They have a donation box set up just inside the front doors.
