Lorida woman killed in one-vehicle crash on US 98

OKEECHOBEE – A 49-year-old Lorida woman was killed Friday night (March 23) in a one-vehicle accident on U.S. 98 North in Okeechobee County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol report.

A 2004 Ford Ranger pickup was traveling west while negotiating a left-hand curve on US-98 North (State Road 700) east of Northwest 176th Avenue at 9:20 p.m., the report states.

The driver  failed to negotiate the curve causing the vehicle travel off the roadway, the report states. The vehicle began overturning and the left front of the vehicle collided with a fence on the shoulder.

After this impact, the vehicle came to final rest facing north just south of the fence, the report states.

The driver was transported to HCA Lawnwood Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
