GLADES & HIGHLANDS COUNTY — The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for both Glades and Highlands County from 2 p.m. this afternoon to 7.p.m. this evening. A Red Flag Warning means warm temperatures, very low humidity’s, and stronger winds are expected to combine to produce an increased risk of fire danger. At this time, we highly recommend that any outdoor burning be postponed until weather conditions improve.

The Florida Forest Service, a division of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, manages more than 1 million acres of state forests and provides forest management assistance on more than 17 million acres of private and community forests. The Florida Forest Service is also responsible for protecting homes, forestland and natural resources from the devastating effects of wildfire on more than 26 million acres.
