Alzheimer’s Association Brain Bus coming to Southwest Florida

Tour will coincide with ‘Latinos & Alzheimer’s Symposium,’ town hall

The Alzheimer’s Association Brain Bus will begin its tour of Southwest Florida this weekend, making stops in Sarasota, Lehigh Acres, Immokalee and Naples. Unique to Florida, the Brain Bus program is an outreach initiative involving two vehicles that crisscross the state providing dementia education and resources to underserved communities. Brain Bus programming is also available 24/7 online at alzprogramsanytime.org. Starting Saturday, the Brain Bus van will be making the following stops:

9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday, April 25, 2022
Lehigh Senior Center, 219 Plaza Drive, Lehigh Acres
• 10 a.m. – “10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s” program

9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 26, 2022

Collier County Health Department, 419 N. First St., Immokalee
• 12:15 p.m. – “Healthy Living for the Brain and Body” program
• 1 p.m. – “10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s” program
• 1:45 p.m. – “Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia” program

9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2022

Gold Gate Senior Center, 4898 Coronado Parkway, Naples
• 10-11:30 a.m. Hispanic Alzheimer’s Community Forum. Register by calling (800) 272-3900.

• Alzheimer’s Association Virtual Town Hall with U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan, 1 p.m. EDT, April 25, 2022. Department of Elder Affairs Secretary Michelle Branham will also join this discussion about what is being done on the state and federal levels regarding the need for equity and diversity in clinical trials.

• Latinos & Alzheimer’s Symposium, April 25-26, 2022. Members of the public are invited to attend the community event on April 26 from 6-7:15 p.m. EDT at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa in Bonita Springs or online.
