FORT MYERS — The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) recently named Florida SouthWestern State College’s (FSW) Dr. Jackie Beard and Dr. Sue Buntic to the FCSAA Hall of Fame for their work and support of the Florida College System. The FCSAA Hall of Fame is comprised of administrators, coaches, advisors, officials, students, and other nominees that have contributed a minimum of ten years to FCSAA or one of its member institutions. They have been selected by their peers on the merits of their community and state college contributions and achievements as well as significant accomplishments.

Dr. Beard, FSW senior coordinator of Student Transitions, began serving the Florida College System since 2009 when he was a student at the College of Central Florida, where he was a member of the Student Government Association (SGA). He helped implement state comprehensive strategic plans focused on student achievement, legislative advocacy, and community service, and he developed a team of students who trained other SGA boards to provide professional development. In his role at FSW, Dr. Beard oversees numerous college programs and initiatives focused on student success and achievement. He also serves as co-advisor of the Student Government Association.

FSW alumna Dr. Buntic returned to her alma matter and served in roles at the college for 11 years including FSW’s first student life specialist and assistant director of Student Life. She spearheaded FSW’s Collegewide Student Government Association and developed collegewide civic engagement volunteer opportunities via internal college and community partners including the American Heart Association, American Cancer Association, and Habitat for Humanity. She also served as advisor to FSW’s SGA and various student clubs, Florida College System Student Government Association (FCSSGA) region and state advisor and conference chair, and chaired chapter, region and commission boards for the Association of Florida Colleges. She currently serves as the social studies department chair at LaBelle Middle School.
