At 7:11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21, a 38-year-old LaBelle man driving a pick-up truck travelling south on CR 835 near East Tumakee Way was passing traffic on the northbound lane when his vehicle collided with a van headed north in the northbound lane of CR 835, driven by a 42-year-old Immokalee man.

A 26-year-old Immokalee female passenger in the van sustained fatal injuries due to the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, the FHP accident report said, while the van's driver sustained critical injuries. The driver was transported to an area hospital.

The driver of the pick-up truck sustained minor injuries, as did his passenger, a 35-year-old Cewiston man.
