NAPLES — The 2021-2022 school year is fast approaching. Collier County students will start school on Tuesday, August 10, 2021.

Any student who is enrolled in a virtual or homebound program that is connected to a local public school district is required to meet the same entry requirements as a student attending a brick and mortar school. These students are still counted as a district student and have the same requirements and privileges that any other student enrolled has.

The Florida Department of Health in Collier County (DOH-Collier) encourages parents and caregivers to check the immunization status and school requirements for their children, and to make an appointment to visit your local health department or private healthcare provider as soon as possible.

Reminder - All students entering 7th grade must have a Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, and acellular pertussis) booster vaccine prior to the first day of school.

The COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine is available for those 12 years and older. Your child will need a second dose of the Pfizer vaccine 3 weeks after their first dose. Note: DOH-Collier does not offer the Pfizer vaccine. However, DOH-Collier offers the Moderna vaccine for those 18 years and older. To find a vaccination site, visit https://www.vaccines.gov/search/.

Free immunizations for children birth through 18 years of age are available at the following DOH-Collier locations:
• Naples: Building H, 3339 East Tamiami Trail, Naples, 34112
By appointment only; Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

• Immokalee: 419 North First Street, Immokalee, 34142
By appointment only; Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Appointments are required. For questions, please call (239) 252-8595 (Naples) or (239) 252-7300 (Immokalee).

Parents are asked to bring their child’s vaccine record when they come for immunizations.
