Joseph "Jojo" E. Walker, Jr.

Posted

OKEECHOBEE – Jojo passed away March 20, 2023, surrounded by his loving family and multitudes of prayers.

To know him was to love him. A lifetime resident of Okeechobee, Jojo was extremely proud of his heritage, being sixth generation Okeechobee County Floridian. His professions included construction work, equipment operator, and in his spare time enjoyed recycling scarp metal, a trade which he learned from being his Dad's ("Smiley Joe") strong helper. He acquired the nicknames of "Dragline" and "Bull, Jr."

Jojo was a very trustworthy and caring person. His family and friends describe him as one "who would help anyone in need, give the shirt off his back, a hard worker who took pride in all that he encountered, and was very caring and loving." He had an outgoing personality, loved to laugh and joke, but was not hesitant to speak his mind.

Jojo's love of football and wrestling was dominant in his life, and spent every opportunity watching the FSU Seminoles, Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers, and WWE.

Jojo was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Eugene Walker, Sr.; mother, Drema (Myers) Walker; and brother, Johnny Lee Walker.

He is survived by his sister, Pamela Gail Rowe (Jimmy); nephews, Michael and Justin Rowe; aunt, Carol Powell (George); uncles, Bruce Walker (Cherie), Alfred Myers (Debby), and John Jay Myers; aunts, Joyce Myers and Abby Whitehead (Shannon): and many cousins.

Visitation will be 3 p.m. until service at 4 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2023 at Buxton & Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home. Pastor Monroe Arnold will officiate.

Memorials may be made to VFW #4423, 300 NW 34th St., Okeechobee, FL 34972-1775.
