LABELLE — Firefighter David Sexton was born in Lakeland, and his parents moved to Naples soon after his birth.
David graduated from Lely High School, and he received an Associate of Arts degree from Florida SouthWestern State College. Currently, he is studying toward his Bachelor of Arts in public safety.
“My brother-in-law is a fire medic at Cape Coral and is the one who motivated me to come to the fire service,” Sexton explained.
“The brotherhood of the fire department is one of my favorite things — also being able to have a fellow crew member help you at any time and push you to want to strive for better,” he said about his job with the Immokalee Fire District.
“Being able to help the community and knowing that you are making a difference each time you come into work” is what’s most dear to Sexton’s heart.
David advises anyone that, “if you are thinking about becoming a firefighter — apply! It is the best job in the world.”
