One killed in head-on crash on SR 29

IMMOKALEE – A 27-year-old Lehigh Acres man was killed and three other people were seriously injured in a head-on crash on State Road 29 on Aug. 23.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol report, the accident occurred at 2:40 a.m.

A white Dodge Ram, driven by the Lehigh Acres man, was traveling north on State Road 29 South, approaching Agriculture Way.

A black Ford F-250, driven by a 54-year-old Immokalee man, was traveling south on State Road 29 South, south of Agriculture Way.

The Dodge Ram crossed the centerline and entered the southbound lane, the FHP report states. The front left of the Dodge Ram collided with the front left of the Ford F-250. The Ram came to rest on the shoulder of State Road 29 South. The F-250 overturned and came to rest on the shoulder of State Road 29 South. ‘

The driver of the Dodge Ram was killed in the crash. A passenger in the Dodge Ram, a 27-year-old Lehigh Acres man, was seriously injured.

The driver of the Ford F-250 was seriously injured. A passenger in the F-250, a 59-year-old Immokalee man, was also seriously injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
