The League Club provides over $20,000 to The Immokalee Foundation for classroom furnishings

Posted

NAPLES, FL—April 18, 2023—When the excessive wear and tear on The Immokalee Foundation's classroom tables and chairs reached an unacceptable level, the Foundation turned to the Community Trust Fund of The League Club, Inc. The highly respected philanthropic organization came through with a grant for precisely $20,360.60—the exact total required to purchase new classroom furniture.

Unlike a traditional public school classroom, the classrooms at the Foundation's Programs' office in Immokalee are a daily hub of various activities. With over 1,300 students on its roster this year, The Immokalee Foundation welcomes a high number of people each day.

"As The Immokalee Foundation utilizes every dollar possible to provide our students with educational, career readiness, and professional development programming, very limited funds were available to purchase new tables and chairs," explained Immokalee Foundation President and CEO Noemi Y Perez. "We are so grateful that the Community Trust Fund of The League Club was able to address this critical need. They once again came through for the very deserving students of Immokalee."

In addition to hosting activities for students, family members, community leaders, volunteers, visitors and staff, classrooms are used as student workspaces and are home to various lectures, workshops, meetings, and presentations.

As involving parents is critical to student success, the Foundation also holds regular Parent Cafes and meetings. These activities enable parents to understand their children's career and academic choices as well as the steps needed to attain their goals.

Though highly diverse in purpose, most of the Foundation's classroom activity supports its award-winning Career Pathways Program. The out-of-school program prepares students for well-paying, in-demand professional careers in four specific pathways: Business Management & Entrepreneurship, Education & Human Services, Engineering & Construction Management, and Healthcare.

"Thanks to the Community Trust Fund of The League Club, the professional appeal of the space will now match the quality of the work performed within its walls," Perez added. "We're so grateful."

"The heart and soul of The League Club is our Community Involvement Committee," said League Club President Denise Hadley. "For over three decades, the League Club has addressed critical needs of at-risk adults and children in the areas of food scarcity, shelter, education, and the arts through grants to nonprofit agencies in Collier and Lee Counties. We are delighted to be able to support the Immokalee Foundation in this year's grant cycle."
