A dozen covid deaths added to Okeechobee County total in past week

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) website shows 12 covid-related deaths were added to Okeechobee County total in the past seven days.

The Florida Department of Health advises there is often a time gap between the date of death and the date it is recorded by the state in the data base. Some of the dozen deaths added to the data base in the past week may have occurred earlier. Some deaths from this week may not yet be in the data base.

The CDC report showed 138 new COVID-19 cases in Okeechobee County for past seven days, with a positivity rate of 18.31%. Sixteen new covid patients were admitted to the hospital this week in Okeechobee County.

For other counties around the lake in the past seven days:

• Glades County had 28 new covid-positive cases, with a positivity rate of 13.98% and less than 10 deaths. Glades County does not have a hospital.

• Hendry County had 117 new covid-positive cases, with a positivity rate of 11.57%, three new covid patients hospitalized and less than 10 deaths.

• Martin County had 300 new covid-positive cases, with a positivity rate of 10.73%, 49 new covid patients hospitalized and 26 covid-related deaths.

• Palm Beach County had 2,929 new covid-positive cases, with a positivity rate of 8.7%, 283 new covid hospital admissions, and 142 covid-related deaths.
