TALLAHASSEE — On May 2, AARP Florida announced a variety of AARP resources available to Floridians as they prepare for Hurricane Season, which runs from June 1 to Nov. 30, 2022. In April, researchers at The Tropical Meteorology Project team predicted an “above-normal” Atlantic hurricane season. The team forecasts 19 named storms, including nine hurricanes, four of which could be major hurricanes.
AARP Florida State Director Jeff Johnson said, “Floridians understand that it only takes one storm to drastically change lives forever. In recognition of National Hurricane Preparedness Week, we’re raising awareness about the importance of effective preparation for this year’s storm season. AARP Florida offers a robust collection of resources designed for older adults and their families to get prepared, so they be ready when disaster strikes. I encourage all Floridians to check out these resources and visit us at aarp.org/fldisasterhelp.”
