FORT PIERCE — Area high school students can begin work on their college degree for free through Dual Enrollment at Indian River State College (IRSC). Students and parents attending upcoming information sessions at IRSC campuses in Fort Pierce, Port St. Lucie, Stuart, Okeechobee and Vero Beach will discover how the program saves time and thousands of dollars in college tuition.

In addition to free tuition, Dual Enrollment students are exempt from application fees, tuition and laboratory fees. Public, public charter and home school students may borrow required textbooks without charge.

Courses such as College Algebra and English Composition, which cost approximately $600 at a state university, can be completed with no tuition charge. Courses are offered at convenient times and weighted the same as Honors, Advanced Placement, Advanced International Certificate of Education and International Baccalaureate courses. Credits earned through Dual Enrollment transfer to all Florida public universities and most universities nationally.
