Martin County Schools closed Monday, Nov. 9 due to tropical storm

STUART -- The Martin County School Board released the following statement on Sunday, Nov. 8: "With careful consideration for the safety of our students, employees and families, and out of an abundance of caution related to Tropical Storm Eta, the decision has been made to close all District-operated schools and offices on Monday, November 9, 2020. This school cancellation applies to all learning formats - traditional (in person) learning and remote learning from home.

Around the lake, Palm Beach County, Hendry County, Glades County and Okeechobee County have also canceled school for Monday.

On Saturday, Gov. Ron DeSantis signed an executive order Saturday declaring a State of Emergency for 8 counties in Florida.

"Because of the foregoing conditions, I in abundance of caution declare that a state of emergency exists in the following counties: Broward, Collier, Hendry, Lee, Martin, Miami-Dade, Monore, and Palm Beach Counites," the order states.
