18-year-old from Immokalee dies in head-on crash

LEE COUNTY – An 18-year-old Immoklaee man was killed Wednesday, Nov. 17 in a head-on crash on Corkscrew Road in Lee County.
 
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) report, the 18-year-old was driving a pickup truck west on Corkscrew Road, west of Alico Road, around 3 p.m. A 36-year-old Estero woman was driving a sedan east  on Corkscrew Road. 
 
The pickup truck entered the eastbound lane of travel and the front of the pickup collided with the front of the sedan. The pickup rotated and came to rest on the Corkscrew Road travel lanes. The sedan came to rest on the south side grass area, within the tree line. 
 
The driver of the pickup was pronounced dead on scene. The FHP report indicates the driver of the sedan was not injured.
 
Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, according to the FHP report.
