TALLAHASSEE — On Wednesday, July 14, The Florida Transportation Builders’ Association (FTBA) announced the recipients of its 2021 Best in Construction awards. The Best in Construction awards, selected in partnership with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), are presented annually to contractor members for outstanding work on specific transportation system projects.

“FTBA’s Best in Construction awards highlight the companies and individuals who worked on the most innovative, complex and impactful projects around our state each year,” said FTBA President Ananth Prasad. “We are proud of this year’s awards winners for the excellent example they set for our industry and for upholding the highest standards as they work to improve transportation systems throughout Florida.”

FTBA contractor members are nominated for Best in Construction awards by the FDOT District Offices in 15 different categories ranging from major bridge to utility coordination. The FDOT State Construction Office gathers a committee each year to review the project nominations and grade them on a rigorous set of criteria to determine top-tier projects and contractors who have gone above and beyond.

“I’d like to thank those at FDOT who assisted us with this year’s selection process. We always appreciate partnering with FDOT to recognize the hard work and effort of our members,” added Prasad.

This year, Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC was among one of three contractors that received Best in Construction awards in multiple categories for different projects. The widening of State Road 80 in Hendry County by Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC received its award in the Special Significance category.
