Busin ahead in close school board race

LABELLE – Incumbent Stephanie Busin was ahead in the Hendry County School Board race unofficial results as of Nov. 15. The votes won’t be finalized until Friday, which is the last day the Supervisor of Elections Office can accept votes by mail from military service members stationed overseas.

As of Nov. 15, Busin had 1,104 votes. Challenger Joe Whitehead had 1,092 votes.

In early voting, Busin received 495 votes. Whitehead received 482 votes. On election day, Nov. 8, Busin added 418 votes. Whitehead added 449 votes. Vote by mail ballots added 191 votes for Busin and 161 votes for Whitehead.

Florida school board races are nonpartisan.
