Carl, 86, passed away on December 27, 2022, in Lamont, Florida. He was born on January 19, 1936, in Miami, Florida, the son of Ezekiel and Katherine Adelaide (Earnest) Nelson.
Carl grew up in Miami where he graduated from Miami Edison High School, class of 1954. He proudly served in the United States Navy and attended both the University of Miami and Florida Southern College before graduating with a degree in Agriculture. He worked for the Department of Agriculture and, for the last thirty years, lived in the Jefferson County area where he was a member of Central Baptist Church in Aucilla.
Survivors include his wife, Suzanne Nelson and sons: Eddie Nelson, of Tallahassee, Florida; Scott Nelson, of Sopchoppy, Florida; and Danny Nelson, of Velda, Florida.
A funeral service was held at 3:00 P.M. at Central Baptist Church in Aucilla, Florida on Friday, January 6, 2023; a visitation was held an hour prior to the service. A graveside service will follow at a later date at the Tallahassee National Cemetery.
