Collier Area Transit to launch new rideCAT Mobile Ticketing App

Posted

On Sunday, August 2, Collier Area Transit launched a new mobile ticketing app for riders using Collier Area Transit services. The mobile ticketing app, called rideCAT, offers an upgrade to current ticketing options by enabling riders to purchase tickets and passes directly on their smartphones or mobile devices from anywhere and at any time.

The new rideCAT app is an important part of CAT keeping transit safe, by using this new Touch-Free fare system and removing the need for passengers to handle cash, physical tickets, or interacting with staff. The use of the app will also help to allow passengers to board the bus quicker, improving boarding efficiency. The rideCAT app is available for download from Google Play and the App Store and will be available for use on Sunday, August 2, when CAT’s fare collections are resumed.

Riders using CAT’s rideCAT mobile ticketing app can pay for tickets using a credit or debit card, or via Apple Pay. Once purchased, passengers can activate their tickets on their phones or mobile devices before boarding and scan the barcode on the new onboard validation units which have been installed across CAT’s fixed-route buses. No internet service is needed to activate tickets.

“This cutting-edge technology will greatly improve our riders’ travel experience by providing seamless access to public transit and ticket purchasing anytime, anywhere,” said Michelle Arnold, Director of Public Transit and Neighborhood Enhancement.
