Community cleans up for Kiwanis One Day

Posted

LABELLE — Kiwanis One Day, held annually on Oct. 24, is a day where Kiwanis Clubs around the world organize events locally with a goal of coming together to improve their communities.

“Clubs from New York to California and from Taiwan to Norway can provide service alongside other members of the Kiwanis family,” explained Natalie Linares, Kiwanis Board Member, and Kiwanis One Day coordinator for Hendry County.

Linares organized her local “One Day” event with members of Kiwanis of LaBelle, Hendry Kiwanis Aktion Club, High School Kiwanis Key Club, and the West Glades School Builders Club, and invited anyone and everyone to gather to meet at Zachary Reyna Memorial Playground on Saturday, Oct. 24, for a day of sunshine, fresh air, and working together for the good of the community.

The group of volunteers worked tirelessly to clean the park. They raked mulch, cleaned and disinfected the playground land exercise equipment, and removed trash from the area. Hendry LaBelle Recreation Board provided ice cold water for all of the volunteers, and everyone was invited to stay for fellowship and pizza after all the hard work was done.
