Corrections officer becomes HCSO Deputy

Posted

FOR MYERS -- The 84th Corrections Officer Crossover to Law Enforcement Deputy Academy Graduation was held Saturday, March 14, at the Southwest Florida Public Service Academy (SWFPSA) in Fort Myers.

“This class included our very own Detention Deputy Sergeant Floyd Drummond. Sgt. Drummond served in our jail facility for several years before deciding to crossover to Law Enforcement,” HSCO announced. “Sgt. Floyd Drummond was highly professional and effective in his duties while serving in our jail and we know he will bring that same level of competence to our Road Patrol Unit.”

The Law Enforcement Division of SWFPSA is delivers a program for officers to crossover from corrections to law enforcement programs. To successfully complete the training program, corrections officers must demonstrate proficiency skills in the DUI Traffic Stops course, as well as the High Liability courses which include Vehicle Operations, First Aid, Firearms, and Defensive Tactics, participate in the fitness program, and pass a written end-of-course examination.

The HCSO added, “We congratulate you on your hard work Deputy Drummond!”
