The Cowgirl Weightlifting team were thrown into a new district this year, facing mostly Lee County teams, some that moved down from 2A. The Cowgirls knew they would have to lift their best to be district champions for the third straight year. The Cowgirls did just that.

The Cowgirls had eleven lifters that qualified for Regional competition this Sat Feb 1st at Lemon Bay High School. Lifting begins at 10 am. The Cowgirls would love your support!

Top lifters and the Cowgirls moving on in their respectable weight classes are: Ciarra Hernandez- Individual 101 District Champion, Journey Vidaurri, Melissa Raya, Janet Villa-Rodriguez- 139 Individual District Champion, Cruz Carreno, Jenna McClain- 169 Individual District Champion, Yesenia Gomez-Lopez, Esmeralda Hernandez, Kristy Salgado, Myra Madrid, and Macy Martinez-UNL Individual District Champion.

The Cowgirls have to win their weight class at regional competition to guarantee a trip to state. State competition is in Panama City Beach, FL Feb. 14th and 15th. Coach McClain plans on taking the most athletes she has ever had to state this year.
