Okeechobee County

City Hall to close Nov. 11
OKEECHOBEE — Okeechobee City Hall offices will be closed on Wednesday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day. City hall’s website, cityofokeechobee.com allows you access 24/7. City hall will reopen on Thursday, Nov. 12, at 8 a.m.

Legion hosts events
OKEECHOBEE — American Legion Post 64, 501 S.E. Second St., will host the following events: On Wednesday, Nov. 11 is taco day with taco specials from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Grill will be open too. Music by Crystal Byrd is from 3 to 6 p.m. On Thursday, Nov. 12, five-card bingo is from 4 to 6 p.m. Lunch is served all day and there will be a screwdriver special. On Friday, Nov. 13, a fish-fry dinner is from 5 to 8 p.m with music by Cheryl & Phil from 6 to 9 p.m. Wear a red t-shirt to remember those deployed and get registered for a free dinner for two. Saturday, Nov. 14, is college game day and you can purchase buckets of beer all day. On Sunday, Nov. 15, NFL is from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be a sporting weekend wing special and $1 drafts. On Monday, Nov. 16, five-card bingo is from 1 to 3 p.m. Lunch starts at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, is meeting day and “Top Shelf Tuesday”. You can register for the “Choice of any bottle” drawing and purchase bloody Marys for $1.50. Food will be served all day.

Diabetes workshop set
OKEECHOBEE — A free virtual workshop for Diabetes Self-Management Program will be held on Thursday, Nov. 12, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Learning topics include: monitoring, healthy eating, problem-solving, working with health care providers, and making weekly action plans. Fall Bazaar & BBQ starts
OKEECHOBEE — A Fall Bazaar and Barbeque will be held Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 13-15, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1703 S.W. Second Ave., directly across from Pogey’s. Barbeque by Sheriff Noel Stephen will be served on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 11 a.m. til the food runs out. There will be local crafters, food, fun and Christmas gifts. Join a Virtual Paint Party
OKEECHOBEE — A Virtual Pain Party Fund Raiser will be held on Friday, Nov. 13, at 6 p.m. Paint kits can be purchased at a cost. For information or to purchase a kit and receive a kit call Healthy Start, at 863-462-5877.

Elks serve pork chops

Pray for our Nation event

OKEECHOBEE — A Pray for our Nation, Community, and Families Event will be held on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Veteran’s Park located on the corner of U.S. 441 and State Road 70. This is a community-wide effort focusing on prayer only. No agenda and not political. There will be a tent covering with tables and chairs. Participants should plan to bring a face covering. Our Village holds fall event
OKEECHOBEE — Our Village, 1703 S.W. Second Ave., will host a Fall Bazaar & Barbeque on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 13-15, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. A Barbeque will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m. until food runs out. LABELLE — Chow Down Food Trucks will be at the Barron Park House Art Gallery, 471 N. Lee St., on Tuesday, Nov. 17, from 5 to 9 p.m. Admittance is free.

HSWCD board meets
LABELLE — The Hendry Soil and Water Conservation District (HSWCD) will hold a board meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 1 p.m. in the main room of the Dallas B. Townsend Agricultural Building, 1085 Pratt Blvd., Meetings are open to the public

BHR VFW to host events
BUCKHEAD — The VFW Post 9528, 29012 S.R. 78 E., in Buckhead Ridge will host the following events. Proceeds from all events benefit veteran services. Call 467-2882 for details. On Wednesday, Nov. 11, dauber bingo is from 1 to 4 p.m. Prime beef ribs with sides will be served at 2 p.m. until it runs out. On Thursday, Nov. 12, quarter bingo is from 2 to 4 p.m. On Friday, Nov. 13, three-card bingo is from 1 to 3 p.m. The Post will serve dinner from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Menu will include grilled rib eye steak, grilled pork tenderloin, fried fish, shrimp and more. BELLE GLADE — West County Senior Center, Brother Church Boy and Skye, will host virtual bingo games on Monday, Nov. 16, at 10:30 a.m. The games are played on 107.1 FM Gospel in the Glades and online at www.brotherchurch.com.
