Donors and volunteers make the difference

Posted

LABELLE — We understand that this year has been different for everyone, but we wanted to make sure that we could do our part and help our community like we do every Christmas. The American Legion Post 130, with the help of our generous donors and wonderful volunteers, served 600-plus Christmas meals.

We provided meals to veterans, seniors, disabled, shut-ins and individuals who may have not been able to get a meal. Thank you to Bessie Gregory and her crew for delivering 200 meals to the Sunset/Ford community and James Singleton Apartments. Thank you to Roy with First Christian Church, who delivered meals to people he helps each week when he fixes meals on Friday, Saturday and Mondays. The American Legion is about giving back when we can, and we were happy to be able to provide a little bit of Christmas to so many.

Again thank you to everyone who donated money and time — because without you, this would not have been possible! Thank you, donors, volunteers, drivers, servers, cooks, Auxiliary Officers/Members, SAL Officers/Members, DAV Officers/Members and Legion Officers/Members.

The legion is still accepting donations and they can be dropped off at the legion post or mailed to 699 Hickpochee Ave, LaBelle, FL 33935.
