Grateful patient receives diagnosis and treatment at HRMC

CLEWISTON — Obtaining a diagnosis for your medical condition can be frustrating and difficult at times but one such patient finally received answers and treatment at Hendry Regional Medical Center after many attempts and misdiagnoses at top hospitals in the nation.

Eloise St. Evans was at her breaking point trying to get any physician to take her symptoms seriously and make a proper diagnosis. St. Evans, who resides in Massachusetts full time, had been multiple times to her primary care physician, urgent care, emergency room and specialty doctors seeking answers for an illness that had severely impacted her ability to participate in school, work, and family time.

After months of chronic pain and continually hearing “there is nothing else we can do,” St. Evans had lost all hope until her father, an employee at HRMC, recommended she consult Dr. Barry Davis, HRMC General Surgeon. She flew down the following week and was shocked by the treatment she received. “This was the first physician that took the time to actually look at the problem and offer a solution, it was validating to be seen and acknowledged by Dr. Davis,” said St. Evans.

St. Evans was booked the following week for laparoscopic exploratory surgery, in which Dr. Davis was able to identify the issue and fix it. “The minute I identified the issue my heart went out to Ms. St. Evans as her previous misdiagnosis and treatment plans were exacerbating her symptoms, but I knew once I completed her procedure she would recover and be able to get her life back, which is what I strive towards for all my patients,” stated Dr. Davis.

Now months after her surgery and well into her recovery St. Evans recalls the remarked difference in care received at Hendry Regional versus other well-known establishments, where she had previously sought care. “The team at Hendry Regional truly cared. There is a difference in those that can, and those that want too and care too, and that is what you receive at HRMC,” stated St. Evans. She is so grateful for the “true care” she received starting with her consultation, to her diagnosis and follow-up education that was provided for her condition.

Hendry Regional Medical Center is equipped with two state-of-the-art surgical suites and a diagnostic procedure room staffed by compassionate and highly qualified general surgeons, Dr. Barry Davis and Dr. Dayares Mobed. To schedule an appointment with either physician you can reach the HRMC Specialty Group at 863-983-5026.
