LAKE ALFRED — Florida citrus growers can learn more about the use of plant-growth regulators (PGRs) and how they can fight against fruit drop at an upcoming online webinar presented by the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences.

The seminar will be at 10 a.m., April 27.

Tripti Vashisth, an associate professor of horticultural sciences at the UF/IFAS Citrus Research and Education Center in Lake Alfred, and Fernando Alferez, assistant professor of horticultural sciences at the Southwest Florida Research and Education Center in Immokalee, will present “Gibberellic Acid Research Update and Other PGRs for Florida Citrus.”

The webinar will be via zoom and there is no charge.

Gibberellic acid has been found to reduce fruit drop when applied properly and in a timely manner.

During the webinar, Vashisth will share information she has gathered from existing research studies as well as provide answers to many questions that she is receiving from growers across the state. Alferez will present findings from his research on brassinosteroids and citrus.Gi

The webinar will include brief presentations and provide ample time for questions. Growers may submit any questions about the use of plant growth regulators in citrus prior to the webinar so that they may ensure that they are addressed during the program. Submit questions at https://tinyurl.com/PGRquestion. Meeting registration is not required for question submission.

Interested growers must pre-register to receive the meeting link. Once registered, participants will receive an email with the zoom meeting link. To register, please visit the site https://tinyurl.com/GAupdateApr22.
