SHIP funding available in Hendry County

LABELLE -- Hendry County has funds for Housing Assistance available from the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Program. Funding for fiscal year 2019/2020 through fiscal year 2020/2021 has been allocated from SHIP. Funds will be made available for owner occupied rehabilitation assistance.
Hendry County will be hosting two homeowner orientations to explain the program details and answer questions applicants may have.
The first homeowner orientation will be conducted on Thursday, Jan. 27, at 5:30 p.m. at the Hendry County Annex Offices, Janet B. Taylor Auditorium, 1100 S. Olympia St., Clewiston. The second homeowner orientation will be conducted on Friday, Jan. 28, at 5:30 p.m. at the Hendry County Extension Office, located at 1085 Pratt Blvd., LaBelle. Due to COVID-19 and CDC guidelines, no more than 28 individuals will be allowed in each orientation session.
Please limit the number of individuals per household to two. Individual applications for owner occupied rehabilitation assistance will be available beginning on Monday, Feb. 14, through Tuesday, March 15 or until funds are expended. The applications will be available on the Hendry County website at www.hendryfla.net. Contact Hendry County Housing at 863-675-5297 or Sabrina.Gadson@hendryfla.net for more information. SHIP funds cannot be used to rehabilitate a mobile or manufactured home constructed before June 1994. All manufactured homes must contain the visible FDCA/FDEO state seal of approval.
The application period is for thirty (30) days, beginning Monday, Feb. 14, or until all funds have been expended. Applications will be available on the Hendry County website at www.hendryfla.net. All applications must be received by the Housing Department at 133 N. Bridge St., LaBelle, or 1100 S. Olympia St., Clewiston, by 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15. Applications can be mailed to Hendry County Housing, Attn: Sabrina Gadson at P. O. Box 2340, LaBelle, Fla. 33975.
All SHIP assistance recipients must agree to comply with all SHIP Program criteria and requirements as set forth in Chapter 67-37, Florida Administrative Code and are frequently modified and amended. The Hendry County Board of County Commissioners reserves the right to close any program application period by Board resolution. Hendry County SHIP programs do not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, familial status, disability, age or any other protected classes.
