LABELLE — Saturday, Dec. 11, Kiwanis hosted a “Kids Shopping Day” at the Kiwanis Thrift Store on Bridge Street. Santa arrived in a Sheriff’s patrol car. Parents had to wait outside while children 4 to 10 years of age were accompanied by a Kiwanis Key Club student from LaBelle High School who helped them shop for family members. After they paid for their gifts with the money their parents had given them, no matter what the total price would’ve normally been, they took their gifts to the tables where they were wrapped to be put under their tree for Christmas Day.
The Kiwanis Club gives a big thank you to the Key Club students who helped the children shop and those who wrapped presents. Thank you to the Kiwanis Thrift Store for being prepared for the event. It is an annual event that is usually the second Saturday of December. Kids shop from 8:30 until 10 a.m., so regular shopping does not begin until 10:30 a.m., just one Saturday of the year. Come join the fun next year.
