LaBelle shows growth

LABELLE — When you think of LaBelle you think of a quiet, small community, but development and growth are happening here every day. The LaBelle Chamber of Commerce is aware of, and supports, this positive growth. There is not only business development happening within our community, there is also residential development. Some of this development is “still in the works” and not finalized, but much of it is already happening.

The newest business to our community is the 7-11 Corporation. The 7-11 site is well under construction at their South Main Street location, across from Winn-Dixie. This will not only be a convenience store, but also a multi-pump fuel station. What is really exciting is that they also have a second location planned for the north corner of Lee Street and Route 80, which is the old Seacoast Bank site.

Pizza is a mainstay food here in LaBelle, and we already have several franchise chain pizza businesses. We now can add another one to the mix as Domino’s Pizza is coming to LaBelle. They shall be making their home in the Farm Credit Business Plaza. This is the same business plaza which is home to Two Pea’s Café, Farm Credit of Florida and Florida Hometown Title & Escrow.

Although not new businesses, there are also businesses changing their locations due to growth. At the south corner of Lee Street and State Road 80 there is a newly constructed plaza that will be the new home for the existing Subway Sandwich Shop. This location will also have several other spaces available for rent where businesses can operate. It is a prime location given that it is a corner site on a major highway with great visual exposure.

LaBelle is now also home to a new family practice office. Three Oaks Family Medicine is located at 825 E. Cowboy Way, Unit #102. Dr Valaree Luck and her staff recently had their grand opening, and are now scheduling appointments for new patients. Their office phone number is 863-342-8437.

Not necessarily considered a business, but still a change of location due to growth, is Christ Central Church. They are moving to the Gulfshore Building on SR 80, on the east side of town. This business center is also home to the State of Florida department offices, and also has several available spaces for rent to businesses that wish to have a great location, as well as abundant parking.

Several housing developments are under construction. Belle Arbor, a single family home development, is being built at the site next to the LaBelle Brewery. Phase 1A will have 37 lots; Phase 1B will have 36 lots; Phase 2A will have 46 lots; and Phase 2B will have 26 lots and 44 town homes. These homes will be built with the choice of seven different models. More information about these homes can be found at their website at www.bellearborhomes.com.

City Village, another new residential community, is located between Lee Street and Missouri Street (South of SR 80). It is being developed by Mike Harder. This community will have 34 one- and two-bedroom villas which are gas operated, offer city sewer and water, a one- car garage, two baths, and are within walking distance to shops and restaurants. This property is being marketed by Southern Heritage Real Estate, and more information can be obtained by contacting them at 863-675-6766.

Also in development is Oakwood Terrace, a 56-unit apartment complex with an additional 15,000 square foot commercial/retail space. This property is located North of SR 80 at Lee Street and Oklahoma Street, the old Florida Community Bank Property. The first 36 units are under construction now, and should be completed by June 2021. These units will be 1,000 square feet with two bedrooms and two baths. More information about these apartments can be found at their website at www.beckrents.com.

LaBelle has a great deal to offer, which is why growth is happening to the north, south, east and west of our community. The LaBelle Chamber of Commerce, and its approximately 250 members, are excited and encouraged by this growth. With proper planning by our local governmental leaders, LaBelle will have continued positive growth, which will benefit us all.
