Mr. and Mrs. Earl E. Miller, longtime residents of LaBelle, celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on their wedding day, June 12, at the Veranda Golf and Country Club.

In attendance were Earl and Bettye’s four children and their spouses, Laura and Larry Nolte of Sylva, N.C., Chip and Cindy Millerof LaBelle, Sarah and Bob Behr of New Smyrna Beach, and Bill and Norma Miller of Montura.

Earl and Bettye met at the University of Florida in Gainesville. They married in Gainesville and had a quick honeymoon to Key West before beginning their careers in cattle/agriculture and teaching elementary children. Those jobs took them to Bartow, Delray Beach, Moore Haven, Clewiston and finally to LaBelle.

After many, many years of working and contributing to the community, they retired and began splitting their time between Florida and North Carolina. In North Carolina they enjoyed all that the surrounding area that the Balsam mountains has to offer.

They have also been loving and devoted grandparents to Amanda Gregg (and husband Mike), Elizabeth Nolte, Steven Behr, Cathryn Miller, Emily Jacobstein (and husband Jeff), David Behr (and wife Haley), James Miller and Kevin Behr. Great grandchildren are  Annaleigh, Beatrice and Ford Gregg, Macy Behr, Benjamin Jacobstein and Ziona Lugo.
