Naples man seriously injured in crash in Glades County

Naples man seriously injured in crash in Glades County

GLADES COUNTY -- A 49-year-old Naples man was seriously injured in an accident in Glades County on April 1, at 7:31 a.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Vehicle 1, a tractor-trailer, was driven by a 47-year-old LaBelle man.

Vehicle 2, a pickup truck, was driven by a 49-year-old Naples man.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol report, "Vehicle 1, with towed trailer, was traveling north on Fernwood Lane.

"Vehicle 2 was traveling east on Loblolly Bay
Road.

"Driver 1 failed to yield and proceeded into the intersection directly in the path of Vehicle 2.

"The front of Vehicle 2 collided with the left side of the Vehicle 1 towed trailer. The right side of Vehicle 1 trailer then collided with a utility pole on the grass shoulder.

"Vehicle 1 and 2 came to rest in the area of collision. Driver 2 was transported to a local area hospital in serious condition."

Driver 1 was cited for disregarding the posted stop sign.
