Political forums are available online


As the Nov. 3 election nears, local organizations are hosting forums so voters can learn more about the candidates. Due to precautions to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, this year the forums were virtual events which can be watched online whenever you wish.

Hendry County forums
The Clewiston Chamber of Commerce used Facebook live to help voters learn more about candidates.
On Oct. 14, the chamber presented virtual candidate forums for Hendry County superintendent of schools candidates, Clewiston City Commission candidates, Hendry County Commission candidates and Hendry County sheriff candidates. The videos are available online at facebook.com/clewsitonchamber.

Okeechobee County
The Economic Council of Okeechobee along with Farm Bureau, Okeechobee Democratic Party and Okeechobee Republican Party hosted a political forum on Thursday, Oct. 15, live on the Lake Okeechobee News page on Facebook. To view the videos go online to www.facebook.com/lakeokeechobeenews

Okeechobee County races on the November ballot include Okeechobee County clerk of the circuit court and comptroller, Okeechobee County supervisor of elections and Okeechobee County Commission District 3.
In the clerk of court race, incumbent Sharon Robertson is challenged by Jerry Bryant.

In the supervisor of elections race, the candidates are Melissa Arnold, Donna V. Howard and Lisa Rodriquez. Current Supervisor of Elections Diane Hagan did not seek re-election.

In the County Commission District 3 race, incumbent Brad Goodbread is challenged by Demetre Riles.

Palm Beach County

In Palm Beach County, the When We All Vote Palm Beach County (WWAVPBC) organization is hosting a series of podcasts and political forums with candidates for office in Palm Beach County. The live broadcasts and recordings can be found on their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/WWAVPBCVS/.
