SR 80 crash leaves pedestrian in critical condition

LABELLE — A Florida Highway Patrol press release stated that at 7:45 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 21, a 31-year-old Moore Haven man driving a sedan was traveling westbound on State Road 80 on the outside lane. A pedestrian, a 74-year-old man, was attempting to cross SR 80 from south to north (just west of State Road 29). The front of the sedan collided with the pedestrian on the SR 80 travel lanes.

The pedestrian was reported to have been transported by med-flight to Lee Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

The traffic accident was investigated by Trooper Lemen.

UPDATE Jan. 4, 2021: The pedestrian involved in the Dec. 21 traffic accident was pronounced deceased on Dec. 31, 2020, at Lee Memorial Hospital.
