Living in a lost and broken world isn’t easy for all of us, but it’s especially difficult for our young people. The world encourages them to follow the crowd, put themselves first, and doubt God’s Almighty power in their lives. When we look at our youth, and their quest to become good persons in the world, there’s a pattern that seems to occur often: the world wins over the Spirit.

Remember when Jesus was tempted in the desert by Satan? The temptations of the world, the flesh, and the devil were put before Him, and Jesus showed us just what to do. If we match the power of God against the devil, the devil cannot possibly win!

I have no particular solution to bringing the wandering youth back to God. But I do know that the seeds their parents planted will grow if they are watered and nurtured. I trust in the God who planted those seeds because He wants those young people back in the fold. Much love and joy is waiting for them.

In the meantime, we pray for all “prodigals,” young and old alike, to return to their first Love. We pray our churches will be filled, reminding them of God’s love for them. And by the way — whatever happens, we know the end of the story: God wins…not the world, the flesh, or the devil!
