The Weekly Clothes Line: Our “Propping up” from Sunday to Sunday

Be alert…the Savior has come!

Posted

Even though Christmas is over, the excitement is just beginning. Nothing can top the amazing birth of Jesus, but there is yet another event that shows the hand of God in ordinary people.

Mary and Joseph take child Jesus to the temple as required by Jewish law. Among the many devout Jews praying in the temple is a man named Simeon. According to Scripture, the Holy Spirit had revealed to him that he would not see death until he had seen the Messiah. And on that day, Simeon sees the child, takes him in his arms and prays: Lord, you now have set your servant free, to go in peace as you have promised. For my eyes have seen the Savior, whom you have prepared for all the world to see…. Simeon was blessed with the awareness that the Messiah had come in his lifetime, and his purpose had been fulfilled in the eyes of God: he saw the Savior of the world.

When we read the stories of people who responded positively to God, we can see clearly God’s hand in a world that is torn apart with hate, conflict, and sadness. But you, dear child of God, are meant to be a light in this confused world. God has a purpose and a great love for you. Be aware and be prepared, for when you least expect it, He will touch you and direct you toward something that will change your life and the lives of those around you.
