CLEWISTON- A domestic argument turned violent leaving two hospitalized and one in the Hendry County Jail facing several felony charges, according to the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO).

In the early afternoon hours, on Monday March 15, 2021, Tommie Lee Thicklin, 45, argued with his two adult brothers near the 900 block of the Harlem Gardens community, over twenty dollars. The argument ended and the three brothers went separate ways.

“A short time later, one of the brothers started to receive text messages from Tommie Lee Thicklin, who accused the two brothers of talking about him behind his back,” the HCSO reported. “At approximately 10:33 p.m., the two brothers were talking with each other in the 900 block of the Harlem Gardens community when they observed Tommie Lee Thicklin walking over to them and started to yell at them about talking behind his back.”

Next, the report states, “Tommie Lee Thicklin brandished a firearm and pointed it at one of the two brothers. The second brother pushed the gun away. Thicklin fired two shots into the air and told the two brothers he would shoot them.”

The HCSO report goes on to state, “One of the brother’s sought shelter in a nearby apartment while the other brother walked behind a vehicle parked close by. Thicklin followed his brother around the car and began to fire several shots in the direction of his brother. One round struck his brother in the mouth and a second round went through a rear window to a vehicle where a sixteen (16) year old girl was sitting. The young female was struck in the back of the head. Both victims were treated at the hospital with non life threatening injuries.”

Detectives with the HCSO Major Crimes Unit and General Crimes Unit, along with Crime Scene, responded to the call and conducted an investigation. Road Patrol Deputies apprehended Thicklin without incident in the 1100 block of Alabama Avenue.

Tommie Lee Thicklin was arrested and charged with: Attempted Murder,  Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, Child Abuse, Shooting a Deadly Missile into an Occupied Vehicle, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Using a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Concealed Firearm, and Destroying Evidence.

Thicklin is currently being held on a $750,000 bond.
