Whidden holds on for another four years

LABELLE — The Nov. 3 general election had a 68.2% voter turnout in Hendry County. Of the 19,058 registered voters in Hendry County, 12,997 voted.

In the Hendry County Sheriff race, Sheriff Steve Whidden received 58.90% of the votes cast to defeat challengers Johnny Jackson, who received 27.97% and Ricky Garcia received 13.13% of the vote.

In the Hendry County Commission District 4 race Republican Ramon Iglesias received 71.45% of the votes, defeating Cynthia Santana De Las Salas, Democrat, who received 28.55% of the vote.

In the Hendry County Superintendent of Schools, Republican Michael Swindle with 65.81% of the vote defeated Democrat Gwendolyn Patrick-Griffiths, who had 34.19% of the votes.
